News Title: As a result of its easy beach access via SC Highway 9, another new home community is being planned along the rapidly growing corridor around Loris, SC.
SC Highway 9 is not only one of the longest state highways in South Carolina, but from Loris, SC Highway 9 provides a convenient and direct route to the beaches of North Myrtle Beach, making coastal trips quick and hassle-free. As a result of its easy beach access via South Carolina Highway 9, many new home communities are now popping up along the corridor around Loris, South Carolina.

D. R. Horton is already building two new home communities along SC Highway 9 – Sutton Farm and Woodland Valley. Lennar is building a new home community - Warner Crossing. Wildberry Estates is a new home community up the road a bit on SC Highway 9 that is being planned for the future.

Another new home community along Highway 9 that is being planned now – on an approximate 73.3 acre parcel of land located directly off of Log Cabin Road.

Preliminary plans are for there to be 111 single family homes on this parcel.

Current progress towards this new home community is a rezoning request of the approximate 73.3 acres from FA (Forest Agriculture - Agriculture, forestry, low-density residential, limited commercial (maximum size of 4,500 sq.ft.), social, cultural, recreational, and religious uses) to MRD 1 (Multi-Residential One - allows for mixed residential development in the rural areas of the county as identified on the future land use map).

This is the rezoning schedule for this property is as follows:

October 30, 2025 – First Planning Commission Hearing (last Thursday of the month) – purpose of this meeting/workshop is for the Horry County Planning Commission to become familiar with the rezoning request and the ask questions to the applicant and staff

November 6, 2025 – Second Planning Commission Hearing (first Thursday of the month) – this is a public hearing to consider the rezoning request. The Horry County Planning Commission makes a recommendation as to whether the property should be rezoned. Their recommendation is then forwarded to the Horry County City Council for action

November 18, 2025 – Reading – this is the first of three Horry County City Council readings for the rezoning request following the Horry County Planning Commission recommendation

December 9, 2025 – Public Comment – this is the second Horry Council reading of the rezoning request that is a public hearing where public input is accepted.

January 6, 2026 – Consent Agenda – this is the third and final reading at Horry County City Council where the rezoning is completed (if approved).

This parcel is currently being owned by Antioch Farms LLC. No further plans or timing for this new home community has yet to be announced.
